We have seen the Facebook release on the above subject. Indeed, the group behind this post is mentally retarded and challenged with very low intellectual capacity to analyse issues as they are. Our simple response to the group is that Bawku is the commercial and traditional capital of the Kusaug Traditional Area made up of the six administrative districts: Bawku Municipal, Bawku West (Zebilla), Pusiga, Binduri, Garu and Tempane. This is the fact Prof. Azumah pointed out. Bawku is the Paramount seat of Kusaug with 25 divisional chiefs all enskined by the Zugraana. The claim of the so called Mamprusis in Bawku that Bawku belong to Mamprugu is absurd. A Mamprusi chief of Bawku can never enskin let alone exercise any authority over the 25 divisional areas in the Kusaug Traditional Area. How can a Mamprusi be chief over the Paramount seat with 25 Kusasi divisional chiefs under him? And on the court ruling, first was the Appeals court ruling in 1957 that Bawku belong to Kusasis. The NLC illegal decree of 1966 by the military junta set aside the Appeals Court ruling. That decree itself was then set aside by another military junta decree, PNDCL Law 75 in 1983 which was later repealed in 1996 by provisions in the 1992 constitution. The Mamprusis ignorantly filed a case at the Supreme Court in 2003 to repeal the already defunct PNDCL law. This was brought to your attention and you sought leave of the court to withdraw your useless lawsuit. The court granted you permission to withdraw without liberty to bring back the Bawku Skin issue ever to court under PNDCL law 75 AND UNDER THE RELEVANT PROVISIONS OF THE 1992 Constitution. Blocking your legal path to the Bawku skin permanently! This is the part you refuse to tell your people and constantly want to throw dust into the eyes of Ghanaians. If you really believe there is no Supreme Court ruling on the Bawku skin, and that the current Bawku Naba who has been chief for nearly 40yrs is illegitimate, why are you not going to court? You are just a bunch of criminal liars and Rev. Prof Azumah exposed you. That's why you're crying like babies. Again, if you are very sure that the National House of Chiefs ruled in 1983 that Zugraan Abugrago Asigri Azoka II is not the Paramount Chief of the Kusaug Kingdom, then you are free to go represent Bawku and all of Kusaug at the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs as well as the National House of Chiefs. Your lies are being exposed and Prof. Azumah interview is just the beginning!
We solidly stand by the comments of the revered Minister of the Gospel and President of the Kusaug Peoples Congress (KPC), Rev. Prof. John Azumah that the conflict in Bawku is continuing because of the lack of political will to enforce the laws of Ghana. To the best of our knowledge, there’s no legitimate challenge in any law court in Ghana or National House of Chiefs regarding the Bawku Paramountcy. That has long been settled. And so the lack of political will to deal with lawless characters operating under such groups as the above one is exactly what Reverend Prof. John Azumah, President of KPC talked about. If there was political will to enforce the laws, we strongly believe and know that to be true that the lawlessness and criminality in Bawku perpetrated by these miscreants calling themselves “Mamprusis” in the name of chieftaincy would’ve long ended. We Kusaas are law abiding and peaceful people but we won’t sit down for criminals to destroy our Kingdom. We are fighting criminality and lawlessness in Bawku and we shall continue to do so until there’s law and order in the Kusaug Traditional Area. This we owe it as a duty to our ancestors, ourselves and generations of Kusaas yet unborn.
We wish to state without any equivocation that it is the lack of political will that allows the conflict in Bawku township, which is pure lawlessness and criminality by empty headed individuals who have no respect for the laws of the land to continue. Mamprusis have no jurisdiction over the Kusaug Traditional Area and the earlier these pig-headed individuals calling themselves “Mamprusis” in Bawku township get this into their empty skulls the better for them. For the avoidance of doubt, the Mamprugu Traditional Area has its Paramount Chief in Nalerigu and anyone who claims to be a Mamprusi and wants to be a Chief should go there to contest the Paramountcy. It can never happen that one tribe claims ownership over two different traditional areas spread over two different administrative regions of Ghana.
We wish to reassure our hardworking President, Rev. Prof. John Azumah of our unflinching support and that he should continue to speak the truth to power. The Almighty God/Allah, the gods of Kusaug and our ancestors will continue to see us through for evil shall never triumph in Kusaug.
