President Mahama's intention to run in the 2024 elections has provided them with some relief, according to Mr Benjamin Kofi Quashie, who is also the group chairman of Allied Consortiums and the chairman of the National Democratic Congress of South Africa's Council of Elders.

Speaking to Nana Otu Darko on "Dwabre Mu" on CTV on March 3, 2023, he elaborated that, given the economic crisis the nation is experiencing, President Mahama, who has proven his capacity to develop a nation, is the only one who can save it.
Benjamin Quashie responded that we now require an experienced hand to guide the ship of state when questioned why President Mahama did not give someone else the chance to head the party. Regarding the ex-gratia cancellation announced by President Mahama, the chair of the Allied Consortium claimed that Ghanaians should be applauding President Mahama since he has pledged to abolish it once in office. The nation might use such savings for growth.
The SA Council Chair continued by explaining that President Mahama might eliminate ex-gratia by modifying the legislation or removing it from our statutes.
