President Mahama's intention to run in the 2024 elections has provided them with some relief, according to Mr Benjamin Kofi Quashie, who is also the group chairman of Allied Consortiums and the chairman of the National Democratic Congress of South Africa's Council of Elders.

He claims that the former President's intention to lead the NDC in the 2024 elections has greatly inspired and motivated the party's rank and file. He claimed that "he" was the one who had made the decision to implement all of Nana Akufo-positive Addo's government's programmes and initiatives.

"President Mahama is our presumed leader, as I and many others in our party have understood for a long time. The official announcement yesterday was the cherry on top that has energised the rank and file of the NDC party "said Mr Quashie.

Speaking to Nana Otu Darko on "Dwabre Mu" on CTV on March 3, 2023, he elaborated that, given the economic crisis the nation is experiencing, President Mahama, who has proven his capacity to develop a nation, is the only one who can save it.

Benjamin Quashie responded that we now require an experienced hand to guide the ship of state when questioned why President Mahama did not give someone else the chance to head the party. He stated, "The nation needs someone who has been tried and tested, someone we can trust to handle Ghana's affairs at this vital time.

He has risen through the ranks, serving as a Vice President, Minister, Deputy Minister, and President. Simply put, he is returning to finish what he began. Several of his initiatives, like the Saglemi Housing Project and the E-Blocks, are still unfinished, according to Mr Benjamin Quashie.

Regarding the ex-gratia cancellation announced by President Mahama, the chair of the Allied Consortium claimed that Ghanaians should be applauding President Mahama since he has pledged to abolish it once in office. The nation might use such savings for growth.

The SA Council Chair continued by explaining that President Mahama might eliminate ex-gratia by modifying the legislation or removing it from our statutes.

He said, "I believe we ought to be grateful for a guy of vision; someone who is coming to safeguard the public purse and not to be criticising him needlessly.

Mr Benjamin Quashie concluded by asserting that President Mahama is a good leader who will implement all beneficial ideas and initiatives put out by the Nana Akufo-Addo administration. "We would see to it that the Free Senior School Policy was properly reviewed. We would guarantee value for money and it would never be cancelled "he concluded.
