Rio Ferdinand thinks the two strikers are 'jumping at you' as Manchester United look to the summer transfer window.
Erik ten Hag is set to sign a new striker at the end of the season, after knocking out Cristiano Ronaldo at the World Cup in Qatar.
United bolstered Ten Hag's attacking options with the signing of Wout Weghorst in January, but the Dutch forward is seen as more of a short-term solution than a long-term solution.
Ferdinand said Weghorst has "offered a lot" since joining Old Trafford but still believes Manchester United plan to spend big on a star striker and has named Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen as two ideal targets. .
Kane is enjoying another impressive season at United's Premier League rivals Tottenham - scoring 22 goals in all competitions - while Osimhen scored 19 goals in Serie A just to help Napoli rise 17 points to the top of the league. . "I think United are looking to sign a striker, it's no secret," Ferdinand told William Hill.
"Wout Weghorst could be a short-term option, although I think he offered a lot and did everything the manager wanted.
Victor Osimhen is in impressive form at Napoli
"There are two options that appear before you. I think Victor Osimhen, in terms of form and striker number 9, is arguably in better form than anyone in the world right now.
“Harry Kane is also the one everyone is talking about – maybe there are contract talks with Tottenham, or maybe he will look to move. "If that happens, I won't be disappointed either. I think signing a number nine who can score 20-25 goals a season is what the club are looking to do.
Manchester United will look to continue their impressive season on Sunday when they travel to Anfield to take on Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool.
Under Ten Hag, the Red Devils emerged as unlikely contenders for the Premier League title and last weekend beat Newcastle United in the EFL Cup final.
"I think Erik ten Hag has been great so far," added Ferdinand. "He answered every question and overcame every obstacle put in front of him. "Whether it was Marcus Rashford's tardiness, the captaincy situation with Harry Maguire or the incident with Cristiano Ronaldo, he handled the situation perfectly. Hope it continues!
"You can't judge a season until it's over. But we had a trophy and if we end up in the Champions League place, which is increasingly likely to happen, then it will certainly be a successful season.
“You have to think about how United fans felt at the start of the campaign, myself included, saying we wouldn't finish in the top four.
"Compared to today, the feeling around camp and in the fan base is very different than it was at the start of the season."
