Alexander-Arnold reveals Liverpool's 'biggest problem' ahead of Man Utd clash - 'we're trying'

Trent Alexander-Arnold has identified Liverpool's 'biggest problem' ahead of their game against rivals Manchester United at the weekend.

Man Utd had a surprise 2-1 victory over Liverpool when the two teams met at Old Trafford earlier in the season. Before this match, the Reds were beaten by Brighton and Brentford.

Erik ten Hag's army flourished after defeating Liverpool. They won the Carabao Cup and went on to compete for the Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League titles. Liverpool meanwhile refused. They are likely to end this campaign without a trophy after winning the Carabao Cup and FA Cup last season.

Jurgen Klopp's army is six points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur with one game less. It will be a big boost for them if they can beat Man Utd on Sunday afternoon.

Liverpool are about to have a 2-0 win over Wolves in the middle of the week. Before that, they drew 0-0 against Crystal Palace and were beaten by Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16.

Alexander-Arnold believes Liverpool's "biggest problem" this season is "lack of stability".

"It's difficult because, as you said, we don't really play too differently," Alexander-Arnold told JOE when asked about Liverpool's difficulties.

“Sometimes it doesn't click. We weren't able to get too many good results together and there wasn't much consistency during the season. That is probably the biggest problem is the lack of consistency.

“But that's what we're trying to figure out. We now have four good results in the league when it comes to recovery, and that's something we want to build on and push towards at the end of the season.

"That's how fast football changes. You'd be surprised if Manchester United were beaten here. How many times can we say that about this game in recent years? The way Manchester United play, they'll bring the game to Liverpool," Merson said.

“They counter-attack very well and their players seem to make the right decisions every time they clear the ball. United will want Liverpool to settle it so they can hit them on the counter. Klopp's side could play straight into United's hands on Sunday.

“Marcus Rashford will be looking to put pressure on Trent Alexander-Arnold like Vinicius Junior did in the Champions League a few weeks ago. If United beat Liverpool, their confidence will be high and they will continue the title race for the time being.
