Ghanaian highlife legend Kwabena Kwabena has made some assertions about Ghanaian singer and rapper Black Sherif, according to the highlife legend, Black sherif is a Highlife artiste, not a Hiphop artiste as Ghanaians label him, moving forward his backed him claims using his “Konongo Zongo” track as an example. He revealed that when one listens to the sound and rhythm of the songs of Blacko, one can boldly realize it's a high-life tune, not hip-hop as many portray it to be.
"He is the new generation of highlife musicians,
he is the 8th generation I say if I want to put him
there. We are the 7th generation and he is the
beginning of the 8th because if you listen to his
rhythm and you listen to that delivery and the
vocals, nothing could have been inspired about
highlife music. Looking at his 'Konongo Zongo'
the song is purely highlife".
According to Kwabena Kwabena, he blames the media for all that, because they started the whole thing, he further added that, when Black sherif first came to the limelight, the songs he used to produce were all highlife songs and not hip-hop.
"It is you guys who have caused this, you
caused this, why, if you listen to the tracks the
guy released even before his album, it was
nothing hip hop. Does he do stuff like Sarkodie
does, let listen to a song like Country side', was
it two hip hop artists performing".
Black Sherif has risen for the grass to become a household name both locally and internationally with his aggressive style of approach he has been able to attract many fans across the globe. He has made viral songs with got recognition from international acts like Dj Khalid, wale, and a whole lot.
