Liverpool are expected to be busy during the summer transfer window
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is said to have a 'long shopping list' of nine players heading into the summer transfer window. In previous years, Liverpool have managed to keep their summer activities to a minimum, with Klopp supporting the idea of ??longevity in his squad.
But their on-field problems this season have shown the need for change over the summer, especially in midfield. Thiago Alcantara remains the only midfield signing Liverpool have made since 2018 and complacency seems to be an issue this year, as does fatigue. Fabinho and Jordan Henderson have not been at their best while Naby Keita and James Milner look set to become free agents. But it's not just midfield that Liverpool may be looking to do business this summer with defensive signings who will also be on their priority list.
Joe Gomez and Joel Matip have both struggled to regain momentum when called up, while Ibrahima Konate has suffered multiple injuries this year. It has been widely reported that Liverpool will spend a lot this summer to overhaul Klopp's squad.

Edson Alvarez is also said to be a target for Liverpool
And Sky Germany claims to have nine names on Liverpool's 'shopping list', including RB Leipzig star Josko Gvardiol. The Croatia international is regarded as one of world football's most promising defensive players and clubs across Europe are expected to battle for his signature.
He is not the only centre-back on Liverpool's wish list, with the report adding that Evan N'Dicka and Jurrien Timber are being considered by the Red Devils. N'Dicka will become a free agent this summer and is linked with a move to Arsenal while Timber came close to joining Manchester United last year.
In midfield, Liverpool are expected to sign at least two new signings and this is reflected in their long list of rumored targets. Along with Jude Bellingham, Liverpool are said to be monitoring the moves of Edson Alvarez, Ismael Bennacer, Ruben Neves, Youri Tielemans and Nicolo Barella. Chelsea signed a £43m deal to sign Alvarez last summer and look set to be forced out this time around. Premier League duo Neves and Tielemans have long been linked with a move elsewhere and will then leave Leicester as a free agent this summer.
Both Bennacer and Barella have received rave reviews for their performances in Serie A over the past few years and Liverpool are not the only team to express an interest in both.
