Notwithstanding the difficulties the country is now facing, Ghana's Agbogbomefia, Togbe Afede XIV, is confident the country can be converted into a paradise.
Togbe Afede XIV issued a statement on March 6, 2023, the 66th anniversary of Ghana's independence day, in which he remarked, "It is true that Ghana is experiencing challenges, with inflation being extremely high and our currency, the cedi, losing more than 50% of its value over the previous year.
"More troubling though, youth unemployment is rising and endangers national stability. And to make matters worse, our nation is deeply indebted and unable to pay off its bills.

He proceeded by saying that "we acknowledge the need to work together and do things differently" to achieve the better Ghana that all residents want. More of the same will not yield new outcomes. We would have to respect the truth, avoid causing division, and practise winner-take-all politics.
"We must acknowledge that we have done enough politics, and that it is time we focus on growth and the things that bond us together.
"It would demand that we work together to overcome our development issues as a single people, putting the interest of our country ahead of personal and political party objectives. The state would be required to take all necessary measures to optimize the pace of economic development and to ensure the optimum well-being, freedom, and pleasure for each and every Ghanaian.
We would have to insist on responsibility and openness in our institutions. Honesty, openness, and the struggle against corruption must permeate our society. There would need to be true support for business without prejudice towards membership in a certain tribe or political party.
While leadership is a common factor in all of these, Togbe Afede XVI added that it is safe to conclude that the destiny of Ghana's democracy and, consequently, her progress, ultimately lies on the people.
He thus urged Ghanaians to adopt new attitudes and values, reject lethargy, and get active.
"Our previous acts and inactions have led to the circumstance we are in today. The decisions we make at this pivotal point in our history will have an impact on the future. We must all work together to overcome every barrier to our prosperity to combat poverty, he continued.
