In order to enable them to carry out development initiatives in their respective geographic regions, the Japanese Embassy in Accra has inked grant contracts with four organisations under its Grant Aid for Grassroots Human Security Programs (GGHSP) programme.
The Akrofuom District Assembly, the Amansie West District Assembly, the Suaman District Assembly, and Voice of Persons Disability Ghana (VOICE Ghana) are the organisations.
The projects include building a counselling centre for people with disabilities in the Ho Municipality of the Volta Region; a community-based health planning and services (CHPS) compound at Yaadome in the Akrofuom District; a classroom block for the Pakyi Banko Basic School in the Amansie West District; and the building of a counselling centre for people with disabilities in the Ho Municipality of the Volta Region.

The cost of the CHPS compound at Yaadome is $92,590; the counselling hub at Ho is worth $83,662; the school project is $86,524; and the CHPS compound at Adiepena is worth $86,457.
Impact
The initiatives are anticipated to have an influence on the livelihoods of the respective project regions and the communities in which they are located, according to Hisanobu Mochizuki, the Japanese ambassador to Ghana, who spoke at the event.
The four initiatives are anticipated to provide benefits to more than 18,000 individuals.
The four organisations received congratulations from Mr. Mochizuki for participating in the difficult selection process.
"I really value the work made by these organisations to identify the needs of individuals with disabilities, members of the public, students, and their parents. If the projects are successfully completed, I expect that all of these demands will be satisfied and the recipients' living circumstances would be better," he stated.
He said that "since its establishment, human security has been the guiding premise of Japan's development cooperation projects," explaining that Japan had been pushing the idea of human security to create a world where everyone may live in dignity, free from fear and lack.
According to Mr. Mochizuki, the GGHSP was established as part of Japan's efforts to guarantee that people lived with dignity in order to directly address demands from communities and individuals on initiatives connected to human security.
Via the GGHSP programme, Japan has long supported significant grassroots initiatives in Ghana in the areas of social welfare, agro-business, water and sanitation, education, and health. In order to continue offering such support to the people of Ghana, Japan is resolved to maintain contact with important players in these areas, he said.
Implementation
Mr. Mochizuki urged the project's stakeholders to collaborate for the project's effective execution in order to further their individual goals, emphasising the significance of project sustainability to the Japanese government.
The four organisations thanked the Japanese Embassy for helping to raise people's standards of living in their neighbourhoods.
Francis Asong, Voice Ghana's Executive Director, stated that building an evaluation and counselling centre has always been the organization's goal.
