The Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council has stated that it will deal with the impending tension at Nsawam-Adoagyiri over some Chiefs of Akyem Kotoku's claim to ownership of the area.
The planned installation of a new Chief in Adoagyiri has heightened tensions in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri township.
In order to maintain peace and order in Adoagyiri, the Ghana Police Service obtained a restraining order prohibiting some of the town's key decision-makers and the Akyem Abuakwa traditional council from installing a new Chief.
The police also obtained a restraining order from the Nsawam High Court, which prohibits the embattled Adoagyirihene from holding a durbar outside his Palace or residence to commemorate this year's Odwira Festival.
On the other side, the embattled Adoagyirihene appears to have support from the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Council, which claims ownership of the Adoagyiri stool.
As residents live in fear of communal clashes, the situation has posed a threat to the Adoagyiri township and traders who do business there.
Meanwhile, D.M. Ofori-Atta, State Secretary to the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council, stated in a statement that all records relating to the Nsawam-Adoagyiri lands and stool will be corrected on Monday, March 13th, 2023.
He stated that Nsawam-Adoagyiri is always loyal to the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council.
