Christian Eriksen update as Manchester United star recovers from ankle injury

Christian Eriksen is hoping to play for Manchester United again this season after being sidelined since January 31st due to an ankle injury suffered against Reading.

According to manager Erik ten Hag, Christian Eriksen will return to Manchester United before the end of the season.

After suffering an ankle injury in an FA Cup match against Reading on January 31st at Old Trafford, the midfielder was ruled out until late April. "I think he will play, yeah, definitely," Ten Hag said when asked when Eriksen would return. But I can't say what to expect right now, but I believe his rehab is going well. If everything goes as planned, we will definitely see him, but not before the international break."

Ten Hag was overjoyed with his players' display of character and quality against Real Betis as United rebounded from a seven-goal thrashing at Liverpool with a Europa League victory.

"Definitely," Ten Hag said when asked if the last-16 first-leg win was the reaction he was looking for. "We said we needed to reset and bounce back, and I believe we did so in the first half. I believe we should have been up 3-0 as well, but we made one mistake.

"Then you go 1-1 at halftime, but we come back in the second half, and I thought it was a really good performance.

"It is not a case of ignoring (the Liverpool defeat). We make mistakes and get slammed for them because we don't have control over the standards we have. We displayed complacency, which is never acceptable in professional football."

Ten Hag praised Bruno Fernandes, whose suitability as United captain was called into question following his meltdown at Anfield, for answering his critics with his performance against Betis.

"I think he showed a big personality by giving this performance and leading the team," Ten Hag said. "I believe he has a lot of talent and is now scoring with his head from a corner.

"He scores with his right, left, head, and final passes. Of course, he is overjoyed when he scores a goal because it is significant. Then you can celebrate, and he did so with his fans."
