Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount is said to have been offered a salary of £170,000 a week to convince him to sign a new contract with the club amid interest from Premier League rivals.

The Daily Mail reports that Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle are all competing to sign the young star.

However, the publication claims that Mason Mount has turned down the Blues' new offer. If the player and club fail to reach an agreement, he will most likely be sold this summer.

Football pundit Stan Collymore recently claimed that Chelsea and Liverpool have begun discussing a deal for the midfielder during the summer transfer window. Liverpool have been urged by some pundits to sign the young star, with Dean Saunders suggesting his versatility and footballing brain would be the perfect choice for Jurgen Klopp's side. Saunders also said Mount's ability to play in midfield as well as attack will be a significant boost for the team.

Meanwhile, Newcastle and Manchester United are also said to be linked with Mount.

Newcastle, who have performed well in the Premier League this season, are looking to sign more top players this summer, and Eddie Howe will certainly be looking to improve his squad.

Mount, who has been with Chelsea since the age of six, has made 192 appearances for the Blues, scoring 33 goals and providing 37 assists. He also made 36 appearances for the England national team, scoring 5 goals. It remains to be seen whether the 24-year-old will stay at Chelsea or move to another Premier League club this summer.

Former Chelsea star Charly Musonda has revealed how he went from football's next great position to being forgotten at Chelsea in three years.

Musonda was considered a natural replacement for Eden Hazard after making his Chelsea debut in 2017 but suffered a serious injury while on loan at Vitesse Arnhem in 2018.

And after he relapsed at the start of his next term during his second stint at Vitesse, Musonda was forced to undergo potentially career-ending surgery.

The current Levante star says he almost quit football after being labeled as isolated by Chelsea and friends.

Musonda told SportsBible:

“That's what I still think about to this day. I wasted too much time. You get hurt, they happen. But you never thought it would take this long. I don't know if I can play again.

"The doctors said I would never be the same after that day. Basically, they said if I had surgery, maybe my career would be over. That's what I said.

“Suddenly, I didn't get any more calls. No one is texting you. No one asks you where you are. It was a very lonely place.

“It was a very lonely place. I was alone for three or four years. I remember when the crutches fell off after that first year and I thought, 'Okay, look, you have to fend for yourself and you have to accept that.'

“There aren't many people to talk to. In the four years I was injured, only a few people called me and said, “Hey, how's the wound? In fact, I could count on two hands of these people. “The first year, people communicated with each other, but as the years passed, fewer and fewer people contacted each other. That's it. It's not anyone's fault. But it can affect the human spirit.

"You start at Chelsea where everyone wants something from you, then it's forgotten two or three years later."
