THE SUPREME COURT RULING

I have noticed this!

Everyone talks about the Supreme Court ruling, but none of them is willing to tell the public what the ruling is and means.

Educating the Mamprusis, Kusasis, all stakeholders, and the public about the said ruling is necessary and one way of resolving the issue around it. I have proffered a concretere solution on this matter on one of my Facebook engagements.

Facts:

1. Since 2003, it wasn't until recently that a President of Ghana declared that the Supreme Court has brought finality to any chieftaincy dispute between Mamprusis and Kusasis.

The President (Nana Addo), however, failed to do the appropriate thing. Let the Attorney General communicate the legal position of the Supreme Court ruling to the Mamprusis. The misunderstanding of the ruling (if any by the Mamprusis) would've been cleared and over.

2. The issue was raised in parliament with a divergent stance. So, the mystery continued. Those who spoke about it never read the ruling to the public in their presentation and explained it thereof. Parliament as a body also, therefore, failed to clarify the issue regarding the ruling. What's parliament's explanation of the ruling to the Mamprusis for them to accept it?

3. In the media landscape, no media house or their panelists have ever read the ruling black and white to their audience and explained it for their understanding and appreciation. It's only always mentioned but never made known.

4. The Kusasis wants the government to enforce the ruling but has failed to explain to the government why and how. They simply talk about "lack of political will." What that means, the Mamprusis don't understand it. The government, too, has denied that. So, the mystery continues.

5. Peace advocates, civil society, analysts, and religious leaders have subtly referred to it, but none has read it to the public and explained it.

How difficult is it to use the Supreme Court ruling to bring peace to Bawku (if that's the solution)?

NOTE:

It's only myself and Mahama Ayariga who have written our legal understanding and positions on the ruling. At least, it can be a referenced point for legal analysis.

My last word.

       Thank you
