The  23rd anniversary of the Historic Ghana Premier league match  on Wednesday, March 15th 2000. then under the sponsorship of ABC  between  Accra Hearts Of  Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club

Today marks the 23rd anniversary of a historic day in Ghanaian football history. On March 15th, 2000, Hearts of Oak played against Asante Kotoko in a Premier League match that would go down in the annals of Ghanaian football history.

The match was played at the Accra Sports Stadium, and it was a fierce encounter between two of Ghana's most successful football clubs. Hearts of Oak were the defending champions, while Asante Kotoko were hoping to dethrone them and claim the title for themselves.

The match got off to a blistering start, with Hearts of Oak dominating possession and creating numerous chances. It didn't take long for the home side to take the lead, with Ishmael Addo scoring the first goal of the match in the 21st minute.


Hearts of Oak continued to dominate the match, with Kenneth Sarpong and Emmanuel Kufour adding two more goals before halftime. Asante Kotoko struggled to create chances and were unable to mount a comeback in the second half.

Ishmael Addo scored his second goal of the match in the 84th minute, putting the game beyond any doubt and sealing a famous 4-0 victory for Hearts of Oak.

The victory was a significant moment in Hearts of Oak's history, as they went on to win the league title that season, their third in a row. Ishmael Addo finished as the league's top scorer with 19 goals, cementing his place in Hearts of Oak folklore.

23 years on, this match remains one of the most memorable moments in Ghanaian football history, and it is still talked about by football fans across the country.
