MARCUS RASHFORD made up for the goalkeeper's absence with a stunning goal against Real Betis.
The perfectly fit Manchester United forward missed many chances in Spain... culminating in an attempt to send MILES over the bar from inside the box.
But Rashford corrected the mistake soon after, and in some fashion, with a shot from outside the box into the bottom corner of the goal.
The England international received the ball from his feet and placed one in the corner of the net. And it left fans stranded online as United took the lead in Spain that night with a 5-1 aggregate scoreline.
One person said:
"Rashford goes from Walcott to Pelé in about 60 seconds!"
Another added:
"From Walcott to Prime Pele in minutes."
One joked:
"Only Rashford can give us Walcott and Pele for 10 seconds."
Another said:
"Rashford with another goal makes the Pele/Maradona play there."
United advanced to the quarter-finals after convincingly beating Real Betis by two legs.
And Erik ten Hag praised Rashford's tenacity.
Speaking after full-time, he said:
"Rashy missed a couple of chances, but he's still confident, keeps trying."
Captain Harry Maguire added:
“Those were two good games over two legs.
“Betis is a good team, they are fifth in La Liga. We know it won't be an easy draw. They come to us and throw everything at us.
"But we expect them to start quickly. We know if we don't concede in the first 20 minutes it's already an important part of the game.
"In the second half we controlled the game very well, we scored the well deserved goal and then we played well."
