The Crystal Palace Football Club has officially announced that they have fired manager Patrick Vieira following a string of disappointing performances.
The club has won just once in its last 14 Premier League games, leaving Selhurst Park three points above the relegation zone. The Frenchman, who had been in charge at Selhurst Park since July 2021, is leaving his position. On his final match, Brighton & Hove Albion, a rival of Palace, defeated him.
Osian Roberts, Kristian Wilson, and Sad Agoun, three members of Patrick's coaching team, have also left the organization.
The chairman of Crystal Palace, Steve Parish, stated: "This tough decision has been made with a great deal of regret. We ultimately believed that a change was required to offer us the best opportunity of maintaining our Premier League status because recent league results have put us in a perilous situation.
Having said that, Patrick has had a big influence since joining us in the summer of 2021, and I, along with all of his coworkers, have nothing but the utmost esteem for him. Last season, he played some exciting football while leading the team to a respectable 12th place finish and a Wembley FA Cup semifinal. This was a difficult and important campaign for the club given the roster changes we made before he arrived.
"Patrick has given everything to the club, and we are all grateful for him and his team's dedication.
We also send our best wishes to Patrick, Osian, Kristian, and Sad for their futures.
A new manager is now being considered, and we will offer an update as soon as possible. Dean
In his first season, Vieira led Palace to a 12th-place finish in the Premier League and an FA Cup semifinal appearance. He was thought to have been disappointed by the lack of spending in the summer and January transfer windows and would argue that his team had a run of games against teams in the top half of the table.
The final game before the international break pits Palace, who have dropped six of their last eleven games, against league leaders Arsenal. Vieira had hoped to see the beginning of a comeback at his old team.
