Steven Gerrard is expected to take part in Channel 4's upcoming coverage of England's Euro qualifiers
Steven Gerrard has landed a new role as a pundit for Channel 4 - his first official position since being sacked as Aston Villa manager. The former England international was relieved of duty in October and has since been enjoying time off and relaxing with his family at his hometown of Merseyside.
Gerrard's managerial career got off to a good start, moving to Glasgow to take charge of Rangers before moving to the Midlands to replace Dean Smith.
Now The Mail reports that Gerrard has been tapped by Channel 4 to join their panel of experts to cover European Championship qualifiers in the UK. The Three Lions host Italy on Thursday in Naples before hosting Ukraine at Wembley on Sunday, March 26.
Gerrard looks set to be part of their cover in what could prove to be a huge blow for the broadcaster.

The report also adds that former Lioness of England captain Jill Scott will also feature in the squad alongside Joe Cole, Gerrard's former teammate at Liverpool.
Former England captain Gerrard played 114 times for the national team, scoring 21 goals.
Since leaving Aston Villa, Gerrard has had a brief stint with BT Sport during their coverage of Liverpool's 5-2 loss to Real Madrid. Gerrard is said to have recently held in-depth talks with the Polish Football Federation over the prospect of taking over their national team.
The shock move did not materialize as Gerrard reportedly turned down the opportunity to work with Robert Lewandowski and his former Villa player Matty Cash.
He is not believed to be one of the names in the Crystal Palace succession team after Patrick Vieira was sacked.
Roy Hodgson, who has coached Gerrard with England, is arguably the favorite candidate to return to his former club on a short-term deal until the end of the season.
Gerrard will also be back on the pitch later this month when he plays for Liverpool legends against Celtic in a charity match during his international break. Unfortunately for the 42-year-old, his shares in management have plummeted in recent months due to Unai Emery's stint at Aston Villa.
Since the Spaniard was appointed last year, only Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United have scored more points in the Premier League.
Villa have picked up 27 points in Gerrard's last 25 games for the club while they have picked up 26 points from just 13 games under the former Arsenal boss.
Villa's supporters remain cautiously optimistic that they can still attract European players this season, even though the competition is fierce.
