Analysis of Madrid's biggest weakness in the defeat to Barca - not Benzema or even Ancelotti

Real Madrid lost 1-2 against Barcelona.

Marco Asensio's offside situation will be the most talked about after the game. If the goal is recognized, we will all talk about Ancelotti's super-subs; instead, the cry "Ancelotti Out" appeared again.

It shows how thin margins are in football, but it shouldn't make us forget that Madrid were objectively worse than Barcelona during the 90 minutes at Camp Nou on Sunday.

The expected number of goals shows that the Catalan team deserves to win. The White excels in ball control (45% v Barça 55%), effort (7 v Barça 17; including 3 v 7 towards goal), number of passes (484 v Barça 558) and accuracy ( 85% compared to Barça's 17). 88%).

So if Ancelotti is really 'proud of the performance' as he said after the game, we should ask Carletto some questions - this performance is not something we can be proud of.

There are many problems with Madrid's performance. The defense was cluttered at times, the midfield failed to create chances and the attack seemed disconnected from the rest of the team.

However, if we had to pick the most obvious problem, we would say it was Madrid's performance on the right flank. Dani Carvajal and Fede Valverde played badly, creating nothing significant throughout the game.

Carvajal has lost the ball 23 times – no other player has had to pass the ball more than 12 times. Valverde lost the ball 10 times.

Fede's famous long-range shots were nowhere to be found while Carvajal's poor passing (70° accuracy, 0 accurate cross) limited Madrid's chances of progressing.

Every danger Madrid created came from the left, where Vinicius made a strong impression against Araujo. The irony was that if Asensio's goal had been successful, we would have all lined up to give flowers to Carvajal, who passed the ball to Marco. But when the goal was ruled out, Dani's only positive contribution to attack was during the 90 minutes at Camp Nou.

While Valverde, the future of the Madrid team, is allowed to play poorly at times, for Dani it is slowly becoming the norm. He has had some good games this season but his form has largely declined and Madrid should think about finding a new number one right-back this summer.
