Alejandro Garnacho quickly deleted an Instagram post after it looked to show him using a vape while he watched Manchester United beat Fulham in the FA Cup.
The teenager from Argentina is currently out after suffering an ankle injury during United's goalless draw with Southampton earlier this month. He watched Sunday's FA Cup quarterfinal from home.
Garnacho uploaded a picture to his Instagram stories prior to the game's start that showed his setup for watching his colleagues try to secure another trip to Wembley.
There was, however, what appeared to be a green "Elux Legend 3500" vaporizer lying on the couch in addition to the large screen TV and match souvenirs on display.
The article was hastily removed after being live on Garnacho's feed for a while.
Then, almost exactly the same image and message were uploaded to his account, but this time the vaporizer was hidden.
Uncertainty surrounds whether the 18-year-old used the vape himself or shared it with someone else while watching the game, but Erik ten Hag, the manager of United, will be troubled by the sight.
In Hale, Garnacho had lunch with friends and family the previous week while wearing a protective "moon boot" and using crutches.
While United continues to compete in the FA Cup, Europa League, and the top four of the Premier League, the injury comes at a bad time for the team and the individual.
Since joining the United first squad this season, the attacker has proven to be a valuable player, winning over manager Ten Hag with his performances.
Following Manchester United's 3-1 victory against Fulham, Alejandro Garnacho has brought himself back into the public eye. The Argentina international stirred considerable controversy by posting a photo of himself smoking a vaporizer while watching the game on the couch, then deleting it and reposting a modified version. Express Sport now looks into the 18-year-contentious old's behavior during the previous few months.
Ten Hag's rage
These days, Erik ten Hag has confidence in Garnacho since, despite his youth, the United star is thought to be one of the best offensive options at his disposal.
It hasn't always been easy sailing between the two, though.
During the club's preseason tour of Thailand and Australia in the summer, the 18-year-old missed two team meetings, which infuriated Ten Hag.
As a result, Garnacho was underutilized at the start of the season.
He ultimately recovered, though, and has been excellent ever since.
