In an effort to grow its membership, the Progressive People's Party (PPP) has started a national registration drive.
The mass registration drive is part of efforts to organize the party's base ahead of the congress, which will elect party executives at various levels as the existing leaders' terms come to an end.
Following the process, the PPP will choose parliamentary and presidential candidates for the 2024 general election, according to Emmanuel F. Mantey, the party's director of communication, who made this disclosure in an interview with the Daily Graphic.
membership campaign
He said that the party's most recent National Committee (NC) meeting, held last Friday in Accra, decided to start the nationwide membership drive.
Thus, Mr. Mantey said that the party had implemented a short code to aid in the campaign.
The PPP welcomes all potential members to sign up via the WhatsApp text messaging facility provided by the party (for example, text "hello" to EVA on the cellphone number 0503517348 to start the registration process). As we use the digital environment to make life simpler for everyone, the party built the EVA as a digital platform to assist with membership registration.
He claimed that, as the alternative party, the PPP has developed solid plans that, if it were to win power in 2025, would be implemented to avert the nation's current problems.
Thus, Mr. Mantey urged all Ghanaians to join the PPP and campaign for victory in 2024 to free the nation from corrupt rulers.
"The PPP is the alternative party since no other party can match itself to the special policies it has championed since the party's founding. I thus urge the electorate to look at the PPP as a potential alternative to the two major parties and to join it in order to bring about the change Ghanaians so well deserve.
Policies
The winner-take-all governance system would be abolished if Ghanaians choose the PPP to establish a government in 2025, according to Mr. Mantey, who explained some of the ideas that made the PPP the alternative.
He said that although education will be made mandatory from kindergarten through senior high school and fully free, the brightest minds in the nation would also be utilized to achieve effective government. He asserted that the PPP will promote Ghanaian enterprises and generate jobs through industrialization by utilizing the abundant natural resources of the nation.
The economy would be wisely managed under a PPP government to boost wealth, improve agriculture to feed the population, and export the surplus to earn foreign currency. At the same time, the state's security would be ensured, and there would be an industrial revolution to add value to the vast amount of raw materials produced in the nation.
According to the PPP National Chairman, if Ghanaians choose the party to form the next administration, it would also assure quick infrastructure development, particularly in the road sector, to boost economic growth.
A PPP administration, according to him, would also choose just 42 ministers of state, including deputy ministers chosen from among the members of parliament, and would empower women and young people to advance national development while transforming the health sector to advance healthcare. The party claimed that, among other things, it would provide a just and orderly society for everybody.
