Since coming over, Unai Emery has done a great job at Aston Villa, and he is already considering some prospective targets for the summer transfer season.
Only four Premier League teams have amassed more points than Villa Park since Emery took over in November.
It makes sense that Aston Villa would be considering next season given that they now sit 14 points above the relegation zone. Although Emery has done a good job thus far, he will be eager to bolster the team in the coming summer.
Villa has been linked to an aggressive raid for Romelu Lukaku, and they appear eager to bolster their offensive capabilities for the upcoming year.
Since rejoining Chelsea in 2021–2022, the Belgian forward's fortunes haven't been great. He only managed eight league goals last season after his Ł97.5 million transfer in 2021.
He spent this season on loan with Inter Milan when off-field concerns ultimately hindered his progress on the field.
As one of many clubs interested in the Belgian forward, Aston Villa is said to have "expressed interest" in him, according to publications in Spain.
It makes sense that Aston Villa would want to bolster this division after letting Danny Ings go in January.
Ollie Watkins, who is seen as their primary offensive option, has been in excellent form under Emery. Watkins has had a strong season with nine goals and five assists so far.
Aston Villa has been aggressive in the transfer market since being promoted to the Premier League, but signing Lukaku might be their biggest swoop to far.
With their obvious differences of opinion, it's fair to assume that Lukaku didn't leave Stamford Bridge in the greatest of situations.
With Potter now in charge, there might yet be a chance for him to return to London. Chelsea has had trouble scoring all season long and has been without a natural number nine.
While on loan with Inter this season, Lukaku hasn't exactly lit up the globe, but he is still capable of scoring goals.
Fabrizio Romano recently stated that Chelsea are trying to recruit a new striker and are not contemplating Lukaku for the upcoming season, despite the fact that Chelsea have struggled to score goals.
"From what I gather, a new midfielder is one of Chelsea's top priorities. Indeed, they need a new No. 6 in the middle.
This was anticipated for months, and Chelsea will undoubtedly sign a new midfielder in the offseason.
But it's also crucial to note that they desire a new central striker. Lukaku will be in demand since Chelsea will be searching for a new central striker... We'll watch Inter to see what happens. But, they will make an effort to find a solution. Lukaku aspires to remain at Inter.
Chelsea would have to significantly lower their asking price from the Ł97.5 million value they paid for Lukaku if they were to sell him in the summer.
