SHOULD I GET MYSELF INTO SURROGACY FOR 12,000 US DOLLARS?
?About a year ago i had a strange call from an unknown number. I was hesitant to answer at first because I am the type that wouldn't answer strange calls, but this number kept on calling till i got fed up and decided to answer the call. when i answered, it was my old school mate who doubled as my best friend way back in SHS. we had lost contacts for years so when I got to know it was her, we had a lengthy talk on phone, and she proposed we go out and have some time together with some close friends of ours as a form of reunion. Who wouldn't love this idea? I guess everyone would. So, without a doubt, i gladly accepted the idea of this reunion.
We scheduled a date and we decided to meet up at a very popular joint in Accra and have a little time together. I was the first person to get to the place and after some time there, i saw my friend driving in with a very beautiful almost new Mercedes Benz, when she got down from her car i was happy and i screamed so loud that everyone turned to look at her. She was looking exquisite. In about 10mins, our other two friends also came in with their beautiful cars as well. Being the only person without a car i felt nervous at first because they would surely ask me of mine but then i decided to shake that off my mind. Into the conversation i asked them what made them so much money because i knew they came from not well to do families. when i asked them, they said they were surrogate mothers. i laughed it over for some seconds and told them they should tell me something meaning because at first i thought they wanted to pull my legs. There, they showed me pictures of them pregnant and some surrogacy agreement between them and their clients. believe you me my heart skipped a beat at once. they told me if i am interested they would introduce me to one wealthy family who would be willing to offer me 12,000USD if i am willing to be a gestational surrogate mother for them. i told them i was going to think about that and that when i am done i will give them an answer to that. My problem here is that i am a very respected person in my area and i am in the nursing training school as well but my family is straggling to pay my fees because we are about 3 children in school at the moment. how would my family react to this because here in Ghana, there is not too much enlightenment on surrogacy. Every pregnant woman you see out there is perceived to have done the do. 12,000 USD can help me pay my fees as well as pay the fees of my other siblings who are schooling as well. It would also get me a lot of things and make me comfortable but is it worth it?. Do you think i should get myself into this at the age of 26?
