Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will hold off on making a decision until manager Antonio Conte "elaborates" on remarks made during his astounding 10-minute outburst following Saturday's lackluster stalemate between Spurs and Southampton.

The Danish player began at St. Mary's on Saturday, and as a result, he was the target of his manager's ire as he berated his players and delivered a stinging critique of the team as a whole.

Conte said that "Tottenham's story" was an unwillingness to "play under pressure," which was to blame for their "twenty years" without a trophy. He also questioned the professionalism of his players and claimed they too frequently received "excuses" for subpar performances.

The 27-year-old midfielder was more reserved in his response to the post-game interview, telling the Danish publication Tipsbladet that his coach's critiques needed to be "a little more exact".

The player was asked if he had heard his manager's startling comments, and said, "I guess we've all seen it.

He conducted a press conference that was frank and transparent. He is not content, which is why. If you've advanced to the quarterfinals of the Champions League and are in the FA Cup semifinals, you don't do that.

It stems from the terrible fact that, as a team and club, we did not achieve the desired results. In the Premier League, we are still where we need to be and want to be. Yet it is challenging.

Although Newcastle and Liverpool are now in fifth and sixth place in the Premier League, respectively, they have two games in hand on north London club Spurs, who are currently in fourth.

I am aware that a successful team requires 11 men who are dedicated to a particular mission and culture. But before you as a player start weighing and measuring, I believe he needs to expound on how he feels,' Hojbjerg said.

Spurs have lost seven of their first 17 games under Conte, whose contract expires in May.

After a humiliating elimination in the Champions League against AC Milan and a 1-0 loss against Sheffield United in the FA Cup, subpar performances in March meant that their season would end without a title.

The player, who has been a member of the team since 2020, said, "The coach has not been satisfied, and that is what I take from it.

You try your best to win his approval. I am an honest player, that much I am certain of. I always give my all for the squad since I am a player.

If that's how he views it, you need to be a little more specific if you want to take it to heart as a player, she said.

After the incident, Conte is rumored to have spoken to the club management and reassured them that his statements were intended just for the players and not the organization or the owners.

Since then, he has left England and returned to his own country during the Premier League's international break.

The club's assessment of the former Chelsea and Inter Milan manager's ability to inspire his team will play a significant role in whether chairman Daniel Levy decides to keep him in his job.

The club's chances of competing in the Champions League the following season will also be extensively taken into account when deciding whether to keep the manager or not.
