President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has sworn in three new Electoral Commission of Ghana members to replace retired commissioners.
Salima Ahmed Tijani, Dr. Peter Appiahene, and Rev. Akua Ofori Boateng are the three of them. They take over for the retired Mrs. Hajia Sa-Adatu Maida, Mr. Ebenezer Aggrey-Fynn, and Mrs. Rebecca Kabukie Adjalo.
Since the Electoral Commission Act (Act 451) of 1993 established the Commission, they have joined Mrs. Jean Mensa as Chairperson, Mr. Samuel Tettey as Deputy Chairman for Operations, Dr. Bossman Eric Asare as Deputy Chairman for Corporate, and Ms. Adwoa Asuama Abrefa as Commissioner.
It was established with the intention of handling all matters directly related to the conduct of elections in Ghana, including public elections and referendums.
It has seven members, including a Chair, two Deputy Chairs, and other members. Together, they make up the organization's policy-making and management body and oversee all staff activities. On March 20 at the Jubilee House, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo conferred with the new commissioners.
President Akufo-Addo asked them to maintain tirelessness in executing their command.
President Akufo-Addo urged them not to be afraid, and that no one should try to coerce them into submission, despite the fact that the public will scrutinize their work with the utmost care.
He went on to say, "On the contrary, let this expectation of the Ghanaian people spur you to great heights and above all the works of the will of the Ghanaian people is upheld." Dr. Appiahene, speaking on behalf of the members, stated that they are prepared to perform and contribute to the improvement of Ghana's democracy following the swearing in.
As a result, we are aware of the enormous tasks and responsibilities that accompany it.
"We want to say that we are more poised and prepared to deliver and contribute to the development of our democracy, especially in this digital era," the company stated.
