Voting Commission
One of the institutions of government established by the 1992 Ghanaian constitution is the Electoral Commission.
The Electoral Commission Act (Act 451) of 1993 created the Commission.
It was specifically established to handle all issues directly linked to the conduct of elections in Ghana and to oversee the management of all public elections and referenda.
It has seven members—a Chair, two Deputy Chairs, and other members—who together make up the organization's policy-making and management body and oversee the work of all staff members generally.
updated commissioners
On Monday, March 20, at the Jubilee House, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo officially swore in the new commissioners.
They were exhorted by President Akufo-Addo to maintain vigilance in carrying out their jobs.
President Akufo-Addo advised them not to be afraid and to allow no one to try to intimidate them despite the fact that their work will be closely scrutinized by the public. Instead, he said, "Let this expectation of the Ghanaian people propel you onto tremendous heights, and above all the efforts of the Ghanaian people, their desire is upheld.
Dr. Appiahene, who addressed the members after the swearing-in, declared that they were prepared to deliver and enhance Ghana's democracy.
"As a result, we are conscious of the enormous obligations and responsibilities that come with it."
"We want to say that, especially in this digital age, we are poised and better equipped to deliver and contribute to the growth of our democracy."
