For the Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (PRESEC) to reach its full potential, all stakeholders are being urged to assist the school as it celebrates its 85th anniversary.

Rev. Dr. Ebenezer Markwei, the Head Pastor of Living Streams International, who made the call, explained that even though the organization was renowned for its excellence in education and other fields, it was crucial to look into new possibilities to build on what had already been accomplished.

To move the institution ahead 85 years after its founding, he claimed that it would be necessary to recognize the problems it was facing and offer viable answers.

Thus, he said, "let's take this as a wonderful chance to promote a culture of lifelong learning that will develop something better and more magnificent than what the school now has.

This was remarked on by him during his keynote address at the anniversary's opening ceremony on Monday in Accra.

Anniversary

"Building upon a history of excellence: Come along with us" is the theme of the celebration.

A presidential ball, a bonfire night, a grand durbar, a reunion, technology and scientific expo, and other events will be part of the year-long celebration.

The occasion served to reveal the anniversary logo, for which Micheal Yirenkyi, the winning artist, received a GH5,000 cash award.

successful journey

David Odjidja, the headmaster of PRESEC, exuded joy as he announced that a year-long massive celebration of the school's ongoing existence after a fruitful voyage and counting was about to begin.

"With an important milestone of 85, I feel the school is becoming stronger and stronger by the day, and all we can do is build upon it to make the school not just the greatest in the country but on the continent," he added.

He said that with its present enrollment of more than 5,000 students, the school was prospering and making a good difference in the students' lives while also advancing the nation.

Contribution

The former Speaker of Parliament, Professor Mike Oquaye, spoke fondly of his time at school and expressed his pride in the institution for continuing the work of its predecessors.

Prof. Oquaye said that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was hired as an old boy since he had his secondary education overseas in a speech that was delivered on his behalf by his son, Mike Oquaye Jr.

To become decent citizens and contribute to the growth of the country and the globe as a whole, he advised the pupils to firmly establish themselves in the school's ideals.

Dr. Ernest Ofori Sarpong, the school's global president and board chair, said that during the previous few years, the institution has made considerable progress towards being the finest in the nation.
