Let's start the lecture, then.

For a certain generation, those words will bring back pleasant memories of a well-liked Soccer AM piece called Skill Skool.

For those who are unfamiliar with the idea, it involves two academy stars engaging in a three-round talent competition in front of their teammates.

The host, Rocket (James Long in real life), would urge the other competitors to choose the winner by cheering the loudest for their favourite combination of movements before the winner was surrounded by their raucous rivals. Later, the format was revised, and neither a winner nor a Rocket were present.

A number of players who went on to become regulars for England and even champions of the Premier League and the Champions League were drawn to the feature, which is no longer a part of a programme that will be discontinued after 30 years on our screens at the end of the season.

Here is a list of the top footballers who have appeared on Skill School from Sportsmail.

Sterling, Raheem

The Chelsea forward Sterling, who made an appearance on the Soccer AM segment at the juvenile age of 15, is arguably the most well-known footballer to have attended Skill Skool.

In 2010, Sterling and Christian Nanetti faced off in the challenge with QPR's academy.

At one point, Nanetti was regarded as one of the top players in the world, but Sterling prevailed that day.

He later played for Chelsea, Manchester City, and Liverpool and was given 82 England caps.

In his illustrious career, Sterling has captured four Premier League championships, one FA Cup, and five League Cups. Not bad for the runner-up in Skill School...

Lewis Henderson

The 2008 edition of Skill Skool featured Liverpool captain Henderson, who will win the Premier League championship with the Reds in 2020.

At the time, Henderson, then 17 years old, faced up against Nathan Luscombe, a Sunderland teammate.

The day, however, was not to be Henderson's day as he was soundly defeated by Luscombe, whose routine oddly included the usage of a skipping rope.

At Liverpool, Henderson has, thankfully, experienced his fair share of on-field success, taking home the Premier League, Champions League, Club World Cup, FA Cup, and two League Cups.

Luscombe left the Black Cats without ever playing for the team's first team.

Darren Ings

2008 saw the addition of West Ham striker Ings, a three-cap England international, to Skill School.

Ings, then a 16-year-old player for Bournemouth, was given the chance to prove his mettle when he faced off against teammate Muzzy Holmes.

Ings prevailed against Henderson in the skill match with Holmes. In one scene, after finishing one of his routines by volleying the ball at Holmes' privates, Ings strikes a confident attitude for the camera.

While Holmes did not play for the Cherries' first team, Ings departed Bournemouth for Burnley and has had a successful career in the Premier League.

Nick Redmond

Redmond, a winger for Besiktas and a former star for Southampton, is another player who has earned an England cap and has appeared on Skill School.

In a match of skill manoeuvres in 2012, Redmond faced off against Akwasi Asante in Birmingham.

According to video of their match, the former winger for Southampton and Norwich, known for his speed and deception from the flank, impressed with his repertoire of abilities.

While Redmond has had some success at the highest level, Asante has had a successful Non League career, having played for teams like Chesterfield and Chester.

Assombalonga Britt

Assombalonga, who is presently working for Watford in the Championship, is last on our list but by no means least.

During their time at Watford, the 30-year-old Congolese striker took on Stephen Hamilton-Forbes in a Skill Skool lesson.

Assombalonga's keepie-uppies were trapped in Hamilton-Forbes' shirt, creating one of the all-time greatest Skill School moments.

Again, no winner this game, but both players put on a strong performance.

Assombalonga has established himself as a star in the Championship, having played for teams like Forest, Watford, and Middlesbrough.
