Riyad Mahrez and Bernardo Silva celebrate Man City's goal

A concussion report has revealed which clubs are most likely to sign Manchester City's Bernardo Silva, with the attacking midfielder preparing to make a transfer request following a 20m defeat from Pep Guardiola's side.

City spent 43m to sign Silva from French side Monaco in July 2017. He arrived at Etihad after helping Monaco win their first Ligue 1 title in 17 years during the 2016-17 campaign.

Silva proved to be an outstanding signing for City, becoming a key player for Guardiola and helping the team win numerous trophies. While the Portuguese were in Manchester, City won four league titles, one FA Cup and four EFL Cups. Although Silva and City clearly benefit from working together, his future remains in doubt.

Silva has spoken openly about his desire to take on a new challenge by joining another team. He thinks he can do with different sets to revive himself, and for this reason he is unlikely to sign a new contract with City. His current term expires in June 2025.

Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona are said to be the two main clubs vying for Silva's services. According to Goal, citing reports from Spain, the 28-year-old is more likely to sign for PSG than Barca this summer.

Indeed, PSG have made Silva their 'number one priority' for the upcoming transfer window. Luis Campos, PSG's sports consultant, is keen to recruit Silva to revamp the midfield for Christophe Galtier.

Man City players will rush to escape

And if the leaders of Ligue 1 enter talks with City, it is claimed that Silva will make a transfer request to try to make the move a reality.

It should be noted that Barca is still interested in the midfielder. But the financing needed to strike a deal was beyond their reach.

Last summer, PSG offered City 70m (61m) for Silva, but the offer was turned down when Guardiola's side told them he would only leave for 90m. euros (80 million).

However, with Silva's contract gradually expiring and the player considering submitting a transfer request, Man City will be forced to give up these lofty demands.

City can now sell him for the 61m fee that was offered last summer. This will cost them almost 20 million. Some Man City fans may wonder why Silva would want to trade Man City for PSG. After all, PSG were once again knocked out of the Champions League recently, while Man City reached the quarter-finals. Furthermore, the Prem is a much stronger league than the top French league at the moment.

But there are two reasons why Silva is clearly considering a move to the Parc des Princes. The first is the fact that he was able to restore a beautiful relationship with Kylian Mbappe. The couple played together in Monaco and enjoyed much success.

Mbappe has told PSG chiefs that they should sign Silva, meaning the City forward could potentially join the PSG squad should he make such a move.

The second factor to consider is helping PSG win Champions League glory for the first time. The French giants so far have not been able to lift the championship trophy despite possessing big stars in the squad.

Silva will believe he can lead PSG to their ultimate goal after helping City lift so many trophies. That is what has attracted many good players to PSG and possibly working with Silva again.
