Senol Gunes, the manager of Besiktas, claims that former Tottenham player Dele Alli has vanished in Turkey and isn't returning calls from the squad.

The England international has fallen out of favor since his shining years in the Premier League as one of the top prospects while at Spurs - having climbed through the ranks in 2015 - but has seen a significant dip in recent years.

He joined Everton last year on a free transfer but struggled to regain his best form before being loaned out to Besiktas.

Poor performances have plagued his Turkish season, and Gunes has been unimpressed; the midfielder was initially anticipated to rejoin Everton in the summer.

Yet in the most recent twist to the story, his management now asserts that the club is having problems contacting him.

However, Alli disputes this, stating that the club had authorized his return to London for a doctor's appointment, according to the player's reps.

Alli, who was given permission to take some time off from training, might not have come back to the club "because it's raining," according to Gunes, who also expressed his hope that Alli "didn't have an accident."

"Dele Alli was unable to arrive at this time." I suppose that's why he couldn't come—pouring." it's We're attempting to contact him. By phone, we were unable to reach you. I hope he didn't have a mishap.

It happens only a week after Alli was told to sit out the rest of the season and was expelled from the team.

According to Sportsmail, Besiktas decided against signing Alli for £8 million despite his dismal loan stay, with the midfielder being benched for their last two games due to his subpar performances.

Asserting that Alli "doesn't deserve to play," Gunes had criticized the midfielder back in January.

In November, after taking the Englishman off against Umraniyespor at halftime, the Besiktas manager openly criticized the player for his lackluster performances.

'I couldn't influence the players [yet], but now I can easily get through to them,' he said. 'But we haven't gotten through to Dele Alli yet.

"Let's not talk about Dele Alli as a player, but his efficiency is below expectations."

Since the beginning of 2023, he has only appeared for 254 minutes and hasn't played since February 26, when he participated for 45 minutes in a 0-0 draw with Antalyaspor.

He made a social media post in December promising to keep going and saying that football had "saved him."

"You kept me alive. I will always adore you because of that, he replied, adding an emoji of a heart and a football to the sentence.

Alli's current situation is nothing compared to his glory days at Tottenham, where he started the 2019 Champions League final against Liverpool and scored 67 goals overall in 269 games. Spurs lost the match 2-0. Alli scored 22 goals in the 2016–17 season.

Yet after that campaign, once Mauricio Pochettino, the coach who had brought him into the first team, left, Alli's self-assurance and swagger started to wane.

When he first arrived, he was strongly criticized by Pochettino's successor Jose Mourinho, who called him out for playing like "Dele's brother." Though he initially had a minor improvement in form, he soon started to flounder again.

The situation reached a breaking point in December 2020 when Mourinho accused Alli of "creating problems for his own team" during a League Cup match against Stoke City after removing him midway through the second half for helping Stoke score a 3-1 victory.
