According to reports, Manchester United won the right to recruit Watford sensation Harry Amass after competing with clubs like Chelsea.

The 16-year-old, who first played for an England youth team in 2021, has recently emerged as one of the most sought-after British kids.

Amass has been tipped for a bright future in the game despite having only played for Watford's youth sides thus far in his career.

The Evening Standard reports that he is now expected to sign with United after being drawn to their offer above that of other English powerhouses.

According to reports, despite interest from clubs like Chelsea, United will be the player's next club.

The player reportedly sees transferring to a larger club and utilizing the facilities there as a crucial step in his development.

The defender, who has experience playing both center-back and left-back, was one of the replacements for Watford's FA Cup match against Reading in January.

Amass, who has mostly been a staple in Watford's under-18s team, has established himself as one of the top young players at the club under Charlie Daniels.

His impending signing comes after that of Gabriele Biancheri, a similarly talented 16-year-old who was set to join United as a scholar this year before agreeing to professional terms in September, as was disclosed last month.

He finished his medical last month and then transferred from Cardiff City to the club.

The deal had been somewhat delayed due to documentation that needed to be signed and FIFA's approval for the transfer.

Biancheri was sought after by several Premier League clubs despite never having played for a senior team, but he chose to join United.

Biancheri, a forward who was born in 2006, prefers to be used primarily in the center of the field. He can play for Italy, England, or Wales.

Biancheri is one of the promising young players to have emerged in the UK in the past year or so. This season, he played for Cardiff's under-18s in the FA Youth Cup and trained with their under-21s.

It would be hoped that the Premier League powerhouses, who have a track record of developing academy hopefuls into first team stars, can further harness his development.

David Hughes, the former director of the Championship club's academy, joined the Premier League giants as their coach for the Professional Development Phase last summer. This is the latest instance of United's involvement with the Cardiff academy.
