Dejan Kulusevski has claimed that Antonio Conte's future as Tottenham's head coach won't have an effect on his decision to join the team permanently.

With only three months remaining on his contract, Antonio Conte and Tottenham are preparing to discuss the conditions of his anticipated departure from the team.

After Saturday's 3-3 draw with Southampton, he appeared to lash out at his own players, which appears to have accelerated his departure.

Kulusevski, 22, originally joined Spurs in January 2022 on an 18-month loan from Juventus. He was questioned about his own future while on Sweden's international team.

If Kulusevski plays in at least 20 Premier League games this season and Tottenham finishes in the top four, they are reportedly required to pay £31 million for him, and there is also an option to purchase should they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Kulusevski has played 47 matches since joining Spurs on loan, and he has been an important contributor to the team's late push to finish fourth last season.

The Conte situation won't have any impact on my club's buy option, Kulusevski assured reporters.

"Of course, I want to stay at Spurs."

After Tottenham blew a 3-1 lead to draw at bottom-place Southampton, Conte, 53, accused his players of being "selfish" in an astounding 10-minute press conference.

He argued that his team lacked the will to win and the ability to play well under pressure, and he could no longer 'cover' his true emotions.

Conte's remarks didn't bother Kulusevski, who told Sky Sports that he could look himself in the mirror.

I prepare myself to perform as well as I can, so I can always look myself in the mirror,' he remarked. I can admit when I don't play well enough and accept responsibility for it.

Yet his words were his own, and I have a lot of respect for him.

He gave me a lot of support during my career, and he is still a key figure at the club.

He was quite dissatisfied, just like the players were, and we must accept that. I understand that sometimes it's necessary to feel sad and upset since we lost in the cups and were eliminated from the Champions League, and that's how he handled it.

We must respect his remarks since another person might interpret it differently.

While representing Denmark internationally, midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg urged Conte to be "more explicit" in his comments.

Although Newcastle and Liverpool are now in fifth and sixth place in the Premier League, respectively, they have two games in hand on north London club Spurs, who are currently in fourth.
