Ex-president John Dramani Mahama has once again made the headlines as usual. His criticism on the NPP government according to most Ghanaians are getting out of hand and therefore needs to be addressed whiles most see it as a good sign for his second coming in the 2024 elections. Mahama has shared his view on government size and has promised to decrease his ministerial appointment to 60. This seems as a good news to Ghanaians, but it seems there is no truth behind his speech. Way back before the 2012 elections he President Mahama made promises which were to the advantage of Ghanaians but failed to do so. He was allegedly given the opportunity to scrap the ex-gratia costing Ghanaians huge sums of money but failed to do so. This and many promises he has given but has failed to fulfill them all, but in his speech he declared that his third coming is not for the NDC party but for the good people of Ghana. He made known to Ghanaians on Worzoe TV some important things he would be implementing to save guard the future of Ghana.
Taking us from debt is first on the list, he made it clear to the public that his government would make sure that debt would be paid for and reduced. He further moved on to the most pressing issue being the size of government, Ghanaians are most focused on this issue so as some international bodies including the IMF. One ambassador to Ghana stated that his country of which we go to borrow from has a lesser number of parliament so the government should reduce its size to save money but this current government has decided not to adhere to these warnings, still taking the country to debt. Ex-president Mahama seems to be in the heart of Ghanaians following his promises made.
