SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY OPEN FOR SEED STUDENT INITIATIVE FOUNDER AT KNUST

The Technical University of Munich's (TUM) SEED Centre for Sustainable Energies, Entrepreneurship, and Development strives to provide advanced education in the fields of sustainable energy and entrepreneurship while also conducting research to support the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Funded by DAAD, the TUM SEED Centre collaborates with eight prominent technical universities in the Global South, including Bahir Dar University (Ethiopia), Bandung Institute of Technology (Indonesia), Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (India), Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (Kenya), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (Ghana), Makerere University (Uganda), Namibia University of Science and Technology (Namibia), and Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (Peru). To create student organizations focused on sustainable energies at partner universities, the TUM SEED Centre is seeking candidates.


The TUM SEED Centre is now seeking individuals to help establish student organizations related to sustainable energies at its partner universities. If you are interested, please apply for the position. The scholarship is available from May 1, 2023, to December 31, 2023, and may be extended beyond that period.


TASKS TO BE PERFORMED:

- Create a new student organization at your university that focuses on sustainable energies, entrepreneurship, and development (SEED)

- Establish and lead a team of dedicated students at a partner university

- Plan and execute events and activities that educate and raise awareness among students at the partner university about renewable energy technology and its potential benefits for rural areas

- Collaborate with local communities to establish and implement sustainable energy projects ("Living Lab")

- Develop and implement a comprehensive plan for the initiative, including setting goals, timelines, and budget

- Liaise and coordinate with various stakeholders, including start-ups, firms, local communities, NGOs, and government entities

Create a network with other newly formed student organizations from partner universities of the TUM SEED Centre.


YOUR PROFILE:

-Enrollment in a relevant Bachelor's or Master's program (such as Management, Engineering, or Environmental Studies)

-Strong project management and organizational abilities

-Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

-Experience and enthusiasm for sustainable energy

-Independent initiative and teamwork capability

-Fluent English proficiency (oral and written)

-Willingness to work with a flexible schedule

-Availability and eagerness to travel, including rural areas



The compensation for the position is a student scholarship of 268 per month. This comes with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience and create a meaningful impact in the field of sustainable energies. Additionally, there are networking opportunities available with start-up founders, industry professionals, and other experts in the field. Participants can connect with other student initiative founders from partner universities and learn from each other. Furthermore, a workshop will be conducted by the well-established student organization TUM eMpower Africa at one of our partner universities. The TUM SEED Centre aims to increase the representation of women, and thus, highly qualified women are especially encouraged to apply. In case of equivalent qualifications and suitability, severely disabled individuals will receive preference.
