The date for the writing of the final examination by all Junior High School final year candidates has now been disclosed by the Ghana Education Service of the Ministry of Education.
In a letter dated 23rd of March, 2023, it had been stated that this year's Basic Education Certificate Examination would take place from the 7th to 11th of August, 2023 across the country at all specified centres.
All Metro/ Municipal/ District Directors of Education were charged to inform all heads of Basic Schools across the country to take note of the notice and get their candidates adequately prepared.
BACKGROUND STORY
It may be recalled that, since the reopening of Basic Schools at the beginning of this year 2023, most heads of same had been left confused about when exactly their candidates would write this year's Basic Education Certificate Examination.
Earlier rumors were that, the Basic Education Certificate Examination for this year, 2023 was scheduled to have taken place in June, this year, 2023. This got most teachers, parents and even heads of Basic Schools feeling quite disturbed, owing to the impression created that, the time was actually short, and that teachers and the candidates were left with little time to prepare for the final examination.
This, according to most teachers, who had expressed a lot of concern, would have been very unfair to the candidates, should Ghana Education Service have decided to initiate it as had been speculated.
It was not long, when this year's academic calendar was released as shown below indicating that the Basic Education Certificate Examination would be in August, 2023, without stating exactly, the day within the said month it would begin.
Now, it has been clarified. And as a result, parents who were left worried as well as teachers can now be at peace with themselves and focus on their preparation of the candidates very effectively.
