Striker Erik Hurtado was transferred from CF Montreal to Columbus Crew, with the club citing his unwillingness to receive the Covid-19 vaccination as the cause for the transfer.

In exchange for the equivalent of around £150,000 in general allocation money, the Canadian team finalised the sale, securing the departure of a player who had only signed with them in February and had only appeared seven times overall since May 22.

The Athletic reports that Olivier Renard, the sports director for Montreal's MLS team, said that Renard's unwillingness to get jibed prevented him from traveling across international borders and was a major cause in the decision to fire him.

Even though we were happy with Erik's work, there had been considerable interest in him over the previous few weeks, so we paid attention to the offers.

Because of his unvaccinated status against Covid-19, his condition was precarious, and when we learned that the club may return to Montreal, we began investigating a move.

Erik also confirmed before we continued that he was uncomfortable receiving the vaccine, so we came to an agreement that we thought was quite satisfactory. Erik's professionalism is appreciated, and we wish him luck in his career.

Hurtado, a 30-year-old veteran forward who left Sporting Kansas City on a free transfer, joined the team on February 16 for a year with a second-year option, however he only made two starts and contributed one assist.

Hurtado might join the Columbus club right away with Bradley Wright-Phillips, 36, out due to injury and Gyasi Zardes, the team's top choice, away on international service.

Nick DeLeon, a midfielder for Toronto FC, a team based in Canada, declared earlier this year that he would not get immunized. He said: "I will not get immunized." I promise that won't ever happen to me. Period.'

Iván Jacinto Hurtado Angulo, an Ecuadorian politician and former center back in professional football, was born on August 16, 1974. Before Lionel Messi passed him during the 2022 FIFA World Cup,[3] he had 168 appearances for Ecuador in the international arena between 1992 and 2014. He was also the 17th most capped male footballer in history.
