Alejandro Garnacho, a wonderkid for Manchester United, has acknowledged he will be sidelined for a while after breaking his ankle against Southampton over the weekend.
Following Casemiro's dismissal from the game, the Reds were down to 10 men, and the teenager was injured by a sliding tackle from Kyle Walker-Peters inside the penalty area.
In Sunday's 0-0 draw between United and Saints, the 18-year-old winger who just made his first team debut limped off due to a harsh but fair sliding challenge from Kyle Walker-Peters.
Garnacho, who had entered the game as a replacement in the 73rd minute, appeared to be in excruciating pain on the Old Trafford field following the 82nd-minute challenge, but he continued to play for another eight minutes until being substituted out in the 90th.
Erik ten Hag, the manager of the Red Devils, believed that his star player's injury was not "that terrible" after the game.
But, the gifted adolescent announced on social media on Tuesday afternoon that he is pulling out of Argentina's lineup for their upcoming international doubleheader.
Garnacho will now miss the Albiceleste friendlies against Panama and Curacao on March 23 and 28, respectively. He was seen leaving Old Trafford on crutches and with his right leg in a protective boot.
'He was hobbling a little bit after a hard tackle so in the end I thought I would bring on another striker given we were already down to 10 men (following Casemiro's red card),' Dutchman Ten Hag had stated. I don't believe the harm is severe.
Walker-Peters has backing from Varane and Garnacho.
Guard for the Saints Walker-Peters has already wished Garnacho a speedy recovery on social media, but after the game, he was horrifyingly singled out for nasty racist slurs. In light of the police investigation into the messages sent to the full-back, the club charged Instagram with allowing "hate to flourish and fester."
After the Southampton player received horrific racial abuse, the two Reds responded polite words via Instagram.
It's challenging to describe how I'm feeling right now, Garnacho stated.
"Unfortunately, I will be unable to support my club and teammates in the following games, which will be a crucial period for Manchester United's season.
"I regret that I will also miss the chance to celebrate with my Argentina national team teammates in what would have been a wonderful and happy event for my family and Myself.
He continued, "This is a part of football and our profession. "I am already concentrated on my recuperation, though. I will make sure to come back stronger than ever because God has taught me to never give up!"
Garnacho will undoubtedly miss the upcoming matches against Real Betis in the Europa League and Fulham in the Emirates FA Cup before the international break, it would seem.
Although United has not yet provided a timetable for the talented youngster's absence, everyone is wishing him a speedy recovery.
