Ibrahima Konaté won a one-on-one battle with Virgil van Dijk this evening, as the former led France to a 4-0 win over the Netherlands in Euro 2024 qualifying.

Konaté played the full 90 minutes and received a yellow card as the Blues got off to a winning start in Group B. Van Dijk lost this match and also finished the game completely at the Stade of France. It was a night that saw Kylian Mbappe prove his class once again, scoring two goals for his side alongside Antoine Griezmann and Dayot Upamecano completing the match.

Elsewhere, Mohamed Salah was on the scoresheet when Egypt won 2-0 against Malawi in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying. In the same group, Naby Keita helped Guinea win 3 points after defeating Ethiopia.

It was also a successful night for Kostas Tsimikas, who was named in Greece's starting line-up as they won 3-0 over Gibraltar. The Liverpool left-back, who has been given a five-minute break from the European Championship qualifying match, has been shown a yellow card.

There are also Academy stars on the field on Friday, giving young players the opportunity to make their mark. U21 regular Bobby Clark came on in the 60th minute of England's U18 friendly against Belgium, while Mateusz Musialowski came on as the 21-year-old Poland U18 was playing a deadlock against Austria. Goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros, currently on loan at League Two County Stockport, was left off the bench as Czech Republic U21s drew 0-0 against Belgium.
