THE 6.3-LITER FERRARI FXX V12 ENGINE, WHICH HAS NEVER BEEN INSTALLED IN A VEHICLE, COSTS MORE THAN Y

The 6.3-liter Tipo F140 DA V12 engine of a Ferrari FXX has been listed as Lot 141 in an RM Sotheby's auction.

This is a very unique opportunity to own a piece of unspoiled Ferrari history because the motor is located in London and is a new old stock (NOS) unit that has been kept in its original factory crate.

Since leaving Maranello, no information regarding the replacement engine's journey has been provided. However, similar to the F140B unit that was offered for sale by the same auction house in November last year, we suspect that this was purchased from the factory by a dealer who had no use for it.

You may recall that the 6.0-liter Tipo F140B first debuted in the Enzo. The Tipo F140C engine, which was almost identical to the one in the 599, was followed by the 6.3-liter Tipo F140 FC engine in the F12berlinetta.

The Tipo F140 GA was then used in the 812 Superfast and 812 Competizione. In the latter, it could rev all the way up to 9,500 rpm and put out a stunning 819 horsepower. Keep in mind that number for a second.

Between 2005 and 2007, the Ferrari FXX was manufactured, 16 years before the 812 Competizione was introduced. However, it had a scandalous 789 horsepower at the time. The FXX engine reached a record-breaking 848 horsepower during its time as an Evo from 2007 to 2009.

We would love to see this engine in a Ferrari restomod, but it is highly unlikely that it will ever be used. The listing is expected to sell for between 200,000 and 350,000, or $246,000 and $430,000, according to the auction house. This means that only people who already own Ferraris would be able to buy it, and we doubt any of them will use it for anything other than display.

Additionally, because the FXX was only available to Ferrari's closest customers, it is extremely unlikely that any FXXs are not in Maranello's possession or under its care. This is a rare opportunity for the less fortunate, but it still requires one or two mortgages.

The F140 DA is part of the Garagista Collection, which will be sold at auction from March 22 to 29. Check out the various lots if you're bored during your lunch break. A spare Ferrari Dino 246 cigarette lighter and a set of Alfa Romeo 8C Monza wheels and tires are among the items you'll find. Give it a look because even movie posters from Sean Connery's time appear.
