A private investor has been hired by the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly (EKMA) to transform the municipality's CK Mann Park into a multi-use social and commercial facility.
The initiative is consistent with the EKMA's goal of ensuring organised growth and reducing discipline in the municipality.
The investor, Messrs Shelleyco Petroleum, a Ghanaian downstream oil and gas business, is to invest GH$10 million to build a sports and commercial complex.
The facility is anticipated to give the town a makeover and hundreds of employment both during and after the 36-month project's lifespan.
The building has amenities including AstroTurf, a basketball court, three multipurpose buildings, a market with a warehouse, a restaurant with a kitchen, an indoor bar, and other amenities.
complete management and drain system.
Offices, a hotel with full amenities, a two-story event centre building, conference rooms, and a one-story gender-specific sport changing room with restrooms and handicap features are also anticipated for the site.
The advantages
The CK Mann Park's present condition
The town, which does not currently have such a facility, has observed some residents indiscriminately block key highways for social events, almost always without getting authorization from the assembly.
The developer went through the procedure in October of last year, according to the assembly, and it was given a development permission application from the State Housing Corporation to review.
The Municipal Chief of Works, Benjamin K. Aidoo, said that the developer has filed the application while speaking at a community engagement to notify the host communities of the upcoming project.
Permit
A section of the park is weed-covered.
Let me add that the assembly, through its procedures for issuing development licences, approved and provided permissions for the developer and also asked the developer to involve the host communities, who are the project's primary benefactors.
Given the park's advantageous position, Mr. Aidoo said the assembly has received bids from private developers since its start to convert the park into a commercial facility for the creation of jobs and beauty of the town.
I must state that the State Housing Corporation considered all the options that were submitted, and Shelleyco Petroleum's bid and its concept for the communal space were approved, he said.
