Chelsea players Mason Mount and Thiago Silva expressed their support for team-mate N'Golo Kante on his return to action.
The 31-year-old midfielder, who has not played for the Blues since mid-August after injuring his hamstring against Spurs, has been training with the first team for several weeks to keep fit.
And before Graham Potter's side return from their current international break early next week, Kante played 60 minutes in an empty friendly on Friday afternoon.
Kante looked energetic during the club's development outing against Charlton, as goals from Dion Rankine, Silko Thomas and Malik Mothersille sealed a 3-0 win for the hosts.
After being sidelined for seven months, the France international was also supported by Thiago Silva and Mason Mount, who sported a Chelsea jersey with Kante's name and number on the front. One fan commented on the gesture:
"I love that Mason Mount and Thiago Silva came out to support N'Golo Kante today in a friendly match organized for him."
Another said:
"Mason Mount and Thiago Silva support him in the stands. Classy."
Chelsea manager Graham Potter was full of praise for Kante when he talked about his potential return in the Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid on April 12.
"The coaches before me appreciated N'Golo very much because he was a top player," he said.
"We miss him so much, that doesn't mean the other players didn't give their best. But N'Golo Kante is a top player."
Potter added:
"It's great for us when he's back, we have to know he's got a long-term injury, we have to take the next steps to get him back in the Premier League, that's what we do." I will do. But it's great to have him with us.
Earlier this month, Kante promised his teammates a potential goal celebration when he returned to action.
"If I score in the first game, I'll slip my knee," the Frenchman said in footage from the club's training ground. “I would love to see it,” Christian Pulisic replied.
Any thoughts on his return to action? All we know is that Chelsea fans should be excited at the prospect of Enzo Fernandez and N'Golo Kante becoming a midfield duo.
