Ruth Innocent claimed that, "a sportsman named Phillip Ayobami was in a relationship with her, but he has denied it. The two were photographed together at the National Youth Service Corps orientation camp in Bayelsa State."
According to PUNCH, "Innocent claimed they fell in love in a photograph on Instagram on March 14 that showed her standing with a tall guy coworker during their orientation session as corps members in Bayelsa in 2021."
Facebook users praised her for finding love in spite of her little stature as the photographs were shared by numerous online publications.
The makeup artist, who identified only as Phillip in an interview with Saturday PUNCH, "claimed to be three feet tall (unverified), and stated that she and her alleged partner had been in contact ever since they finished their national service. She and Phillip initially started out as friends before developing a serious relationship."
Innocent had responded when asked if she and Phillip were engaged, "We are keeping it discreet till the proper time. The connection is serious."
According to her, "Even if it doesn't work out, that's okay; at least I will know that I had a man who loved me and talked about the future with me."
PUNCH further reported, "I'll experience what it's like for a woman to be loved by a man."
"I'll be happy to remember that a man once came looking for me."
When our journalist asked Innocent to provide an interview so that he could tell his side of the 'love tale, "he agreed, but as of the time the report was filed, she had not yet provided his phone number."
Nevertheless, "Ayobami claimed in a post on his Facebook page that he never had any contact or business in common with the woman and called her a clout chaser."
According to him, "Sequel to the viral posts on social media platforms about a phony engagement with me that were started by one Miss Innocent Ruth on March 12, 2023, I hereby deny the viral post and want the world to be aware that I have no business in common with her as she is just a clout chaser."
He further stated, "In light of the foregoing, I want to absolutely say that Innocent Ruth and I first connected at the Kayama NYSC orientation camp (Bayelsa State) in the year 2021, where we were paired up as the tallest and shortest corps members as part of an activity designed to increase camper fun."
"We didn't ever get along during or after the orientation camp." He added.
