After agreeing to take over as the next manager of Bayern Munich, Thomas Tuchel has indicated he will look to expand his coaching team by hiring Anthony Barry, the former coach of Chelsea and Portugal.

Following Bayern's dramatic dismissal of Julian Nagelsmann on Friday, the German coach was named the team's new head coach.

Tuchel will travel with trusted allies Zsolt Low and Arno Michels, but he also mentioned in a press conference on Saturday that he hoped to bring Barry into his backroom staff. Chelsea is preparing for a fight to retain their esteemed coach.

'A big thank you to their families for their flexibility,' Tuchel said during his first press conference as Bayern's head coach. 'My coaching staff wasn't prepared either.

The two people who have worked with me for more than 10 years are Arno Michels and Zsolt Löw, and they'll be there. Anthony Barry, who is presently at Chelsea, is someone we hope to add.

Barry joined the team under Frank Lampard after serving as Paul Cook's assistant at Wigan and having a playing career in the lower leagues with organizations like Yeovil and Accrington Stanley.

The 36-year-old remained at the club after Lampard left and worked under Tuchel when Chelsea won the Champions League. Although the German was fired, he continued to work for Graham Potter at Stamford Bridge.

Barry also has international experience; he worked with the Republic of Ireland before collaborating on a part-time basis, first with Belgium and then with Portugal's coaching staff, with Roberto Martinez.

Barry is highly regarded by Tuchel, who would like to collaborate with him once more.

There is no indication, however, of Barry's interest in joining Tuchel at Bayern or of Chelsea's willingness to permit their former head coach to contact Barry about relocating to Germany.

Bayern fired Nagelsmann after being unpersuaded by the former RB Leipzig manager. Oliver Kahn, the club's CEO, said that the organization was forced to take action after noticing "huge swings in our performances."

At the top of the Bundesliga, the German powerhouses are now one point behind Borussia Dortmund, and Tuchel will play his former team in his first game in charge.

If his team defeats Manchester City and the Blues defeat Real Madrid in their quarterfinal matches, Tuchel may potentially have to return to Stamford Bridge in the Champions League.
