Kai Havertz was once again at the center of an interesting penalty decision, after the striker hit the post in a friendly against Germany on Saturday night.

It seems that Havertz and penalties don't have the greatest relationship, although the striker continues to be the designated performer for club and country.

The 23-year-old sparked controversy earlier this month when Chelsea beat Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

Havertz's kick hit the post during that game, but the referee ordered the ball back after a Bundesliga defender crossed.

Jude Bellingham was displeased when the penalty was retaken, as Havertz scored on the second attempt and knocked Dortmund out. The former Bayer Leverkusen striker later realized he could not win, after his manager at Stamford Bridge was displeased with him for scoring a penalty in a recent game against Everton , after his celebration at the top.

And on Saturday, the 23-year-old was back from a penalty, this time for Germany, and once again things didn't go as planned.

He made another attempt to hit the post, before kicking back, only to have the ref properly disallow the goal.

From his reaction, Havertz is well aware that the rules state: "The player taking the ball must not replay the ball until it has touched another player", but that is clearly not the case. of all the fans who are watching.

"I've been watching football for over 40 years and this is the first time I've seen this happen," one fan said. "No response?" question for a second.

The third replied, "I've never heard of this rule."

"I don't really get it but ok," a fourth person posted.

However, that wasn't the only problem spectators had with Havertz's penalty, with many wondering why he took it.

Niclas Fullkrug, who quickly became Germany's hero at the World Cup, scored twice in the first half to put his team ahead. The Werder Bremen forward was still lying on the field when Havertz hit the post with a free-kick and didn't wait for others to touch him, giving him a chance to score a hat-trick.

Germany is currently playing only friendlies, while the rest of Europe is in the qualifiers when they host Euro 2024.
