Tottenham Hotspur fans call for Harry Kane to be sold after 'cringe' phone call with the Prime Minister
Tottenham Hotspur fans have called on the club to sell Harry Kane, after jumping on the call with Rishi Sunak after he broke the scoring record for England.
On Thursday night, Kane became the country's all-time leading scorer after canceling a penalty against Italy in Euro 2024 qualifying.
It was an incredible feat for the striker, scoring 54 goals in just eight years, scoring on his debut, to overtake Wayne Rooney.
The former record holder was the first to congratulate his former England team-mate, who has shown incredible humility on social media.
But the DC United boss isn't the only one to send Kane his best wishes, Prime Minister Sunak shared a video of the FaceTime call the couple had together. However, this was not well received by fans, with Tottenham supporters claiming the 'cringe' video was reason enough for the North London club to sell the striker.
"Sell it @SpursOfficial," said one fan, tagging the club to make sure they heard the plea.
"He's a very tough guy. Who's okay? Get rid of him," a second added. The third wanted a harsher punishment, suggesting: "Forget about selling him, loan him to the Championship for five years for this."
Others were generally disappointed with the video, with a fourth tweet, "Disappointed with England and Harry Kane
- consider all the heartbreak this man and his team have thrown at the England players. He was one of them when Johnson used him to split the UK. Canceled a lot of good work."
"Harry Kane should never have agreed to this. It's a shame to support - on any level - these criminals," another scowled.
"I'm old enough to remember when our politicians told football players to stay out of politics," pointed out another, who purposely didn't need such a long memory. And another joked, "Harry man, my DM will open if you do this forcefully. You're not alone."
It is the latest example of politicians trying to pretend they care about football to make a point or bolster their own sympathy.
A bunch of Tory MPs decided the Match of the Day would be better without Gary Lineker, as the presenter was sacked by the BBC.
This clearly has nothing to do with the fact that the reason for his resignation was to tweet about the Conservative Party's cruel immigration plan.
Spurs fans won't really want Kane to leave on video, although it may not help, with Manchester United closely linked with a summer move for the England captain, who only One year left on the contract.
