Manchester City suffered a huge shock during the international break with The Citizens due to face Leicester City on April 15.
Midfielder Phil Foden has been dropped from the England squad ahead of a European Championship qualifier against Ukraine after undergoing surgery to remove his appendix.
And with no timeframe for his return, there are doubts over his ability to play for the Premier League champions against the Foxes next month.
"Manchester City can confirm that Phil Foden has left the England squad after undergoing surgery in London for acute appendicitis," a club statement read.
“Phil will now return to Manchester to begin rehabilitation. He will not be fit enough for this weekend's Premier League game at home to Liverpool and it remains unclear how long he will be sidelined.
"Everyone at Manchester City wishes Phil a speedy recovery."
Leicester face relegation rivals Crystal Palace in their first game after the international break ahead of games against Aston Villa and Bournemouth ahead of a clash with Pep Guardiola's side in mid-April.

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland bought a house in Marbella.
It's no secret that Haaland and his family love Spain, AS reports. And on top of that is Marbella, where just over a year ago the family bought a house so they could spend Christmas together. Erling's father, Alf-Inge, was a huge fan of golf and in Marbella he found the perfect place to practice his hobby.
But Haaland, amid rumors of interest from Real Madrid, was so convinced that Spain could be his second home that he decided to take the plunge and buy his own place. He signed a deposit to buy a house in the residential area of ??Nagüeles worth 6.5 million euros.
This area, one of the greenest in the area, is part of Marbella's 'Golden Mile' - an upscale coastal strip located just a short drive from the popular tourist attraction Puerto Banus and free of charge. The moat is one of the best beaches and beach bars in town.
