A renowned international supplier of information technology (IT) services, Slamm Technologies Ltd, has teamed up with AmaliTech Ghana Limited to offer job opportunities and business experience to young Ghanaians in the technology sector.
The partnership, which was made official with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), will concentrate on three areas: mentorship programs, employment, National Service, and internship possibilities at AmaliTech; and upskilling students in web and software development.
Speaking at the event, Prince Carl Tuffuor Frimpong, Head of IT Training Support and Services at Slamm Technologies, who signed the Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of the organisation, explained that the partnership aims to close the skills gap in the nation and give young people the tools they need to succeed in the digital world.
This Memorandum of Understanding aims to empower the youth of Ghana by giving them access to rewarding career opportunities and industrial experience in the technology sector. As part of the project, Slamm Technologies will try to match its graduates with digital and non-digital programmes offered by AmaliTech. These programmes are meant to give participants the skills they need to operate as freelancers or land respectable jobs when they complete their training, he added.
According to him, the deal is a component of Slamm Technologies' efforts to support the nation's general economic growth as well as the rapidly expanding IT sector.
"Slamm Technologies' cooperation with AmaliTech Ghana Ltd gives a tremendous opportunity for Slamm Technologies to increase its market share, increase the employability of its graduates, to encourage the development of Ghana's ICT sector," Mr. Frimpong added.
Matthew Opoku-Darkwa, Director of Operations at AmaliTech Ghana, highlighted the necessity of educating more youth, particularly women, about the digital world. He believes Slamm Technologies is the best partner to assist them attract tech industry workers, especially women, to their service centre.
"We need to help our young people who are interested in technology, especially women, and this agreement is in place to promote more engagement in the IT sector. According to him, this agreement intends to prepare the students for both the domestic and international labour markets.
He was certain that the union would succeed in providing employment that required technical abilities for both the local and international markets to young people who were interested in technology.
Cinzia Amartei, Executive Secretary of Slamm Technologies, expanded on the prospects the cooperation offered, saying that graduates of the Software Development prprogramill be given consideration for advancement to Level 2 of AmaliTech's GTP programme.
She stated that achieving this would depend on passing tests in subjects like HyperText Markup Language (HTML) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).
Moreover, she pointed out, the graduates will have access to AmaliTech's Digital Innovation Program for National Service and freelance prospects. The main goal is to match Slamm Technologies graduates with AmaliTech's Graduate Trainee Program, with an emphasis on but not only on web and software development.
A software developer job will be available after successfully cmpleting the training, she claimed.
