Brandon Williams of Manchester United was captured on camera seeming to ingest nitrous oxide, a legal high, from a balloon near the team's practice facilities.

The 22-year-old fullback was caught on camera appearing to inhale laughing gas while riding in a moving Mercedes Brabus supercar. The player has struggled to make the club's first team this season.

He seems to give a canister of the drug to a car's back passenger in the footage that The Sun published while being recorded from a different vehicle.

While it is permissible to use or own the gas, it is currently against the law to supply it.

But as part of a slew of new laws intended to demonstrate a tougher stance against crime, the government intends to strictly enforce existing laws against the legal high, also known as "hippy crack," and outright outlaw it.

Williams, who was born in Manchester and currently plays for that team, has only logged five minutes of game time this year under manager Erik ten Hag.

Unknown is the precise date the video clip was shot.

Anyone who follows United or football seriously would have recognized him right away, a witness to the incident told The Sun. Given that he is a well-known individual, it is reckless.

He is intended to serve as an inspiration for young and aspiring football players.

"Taking that garbage, especially so carelessly, could be impairing his performance on the field." Without a doubt, his management won't be impressed.

Williams progressed through Manchester United's youth teams and has since made 51 field appearances for money.

There is speculation he may go to or be borrowed by Middlesbrough after his scant appearances for the team this season.

Nitrous oxide can cause hallucinations and sound distortions, as well as a brief euphoric high that can sometimes result in fits of laughter.

However there are also serious risks involved, ranging from minor side effects like headaches to unconsciousness or even death.

The elimination of laughing gas is one of a number of "community justice" initiatives that Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has proposed.

The nitrous oxide prohibition aims to safeguard children and stop cans from being left lying around in areas where kids congregate.

We're going to take a zero-tolerance stance, Mr. Sunak stated in a Monday Mail article.

By outlawing nitrous oxide, also known as "laughing gas," we'll put an end to youth groups using it.

"And we're going to broaden the scope of circumstances that can lead to a drugs test in the first place, to include drugs like ecstasy and cannabis," the statement continued.

For a response, Manchester United has been approached.
