PEDRI COMMENTS ON BARCELONA'S FUTURE AMID PREMIER LEAGUE SPECULATION

Since his arrival from Las Palmas at the age of 16, Pedri has been an important member of the Barça team. The young phenom had represented Spain at the Olympics and Euro 2020 in the same summer, amassing 52 games across all competitions by the end of his rookie year.

In the fall of 2021, Barça signed Pedri to a new long-term contract, increasing his mandatory buyout clause to €1 billion (they had only paid €5 million for him the year before).

Pedri, who is now 20 years old, has played less games this season than he did last. He is still injured and has missed the club's previous six games overall, including two matches against Real Madrid.

Pedri hasn't had the same connections to Barça as someone who is either from the neighborhood or who grew up at La Masia, or both, and he has previously been connected with a transfer — Bayern Munich has frequently come up in connection with the midfielder.

The young man acknowledged to TCL that he is not opposed to testing himself in England.

When the Premier League was brought up during the interview, he responded, "At the time, no. I currently play for Barça, and I intend to do so for a very long time. Although I adore La Liga, nothing ought to be ruled out.

Manchester City would be the logical choice, and not just because Pep Guardiola would likely no longer be the manager by the time Pedri is ready to make the move.

Over the past decade or so, City has made numerous attempts to emulate Barcelona and their fundamental beliefs. This effort started with the 2012 appointments of Ferran Soriano as CEO and Txiki Begiristain as director of football. From 2003 to 2008, Soriano served as Camp Nou's vice president, and from 2003 to 2010, Begiristain served as the organization's director of football.

Given that Mikel Arteta is also a product of the Barcelona system and worked under Guardiola at City, Arsenal would be another potential fit in terms of pure style.

Yet if Pedri were available for signing, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool would never want to be left out of the discussion and would probably offer a sizable sum of money.
