Haaland smashes Messi and Ronaldo's Champions League record
Manchester City defender John Stones has claimed team-mate Erling Haaland will break Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo's UEFA Champions League records following an incredible display against RB Leipzig on Wednesday.
Haaland recently broke City's long-standing record as the club's all-time top scorer for a single season, with 39 goals.
The Norwegian international scored five goals in Man City's 7-0 win over RB Leipzig in the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 second leg.
He now has 33 goals in just 25 Champions League games so far in his career. But the Stones believe Haaland has the potential to emulate the incredible feats of Messi and Ronaldo, who have scored 129 and 140 goals respectively in Europe's elite club competition.
"How can I continue without pressuring Erling?" Stones spoke via Mirror Football when asked about Haaland's imitation of Ronaldo and Messi in the Champions League.
“He will probably be fine. I believe he can really do whatever he wants, just because of his desire, attitude and professionalism and I would certainly love to see him do it.
"I think he just wants to win. I think if you have that mentality then individual titles will come naturally without chasing them. That could be completely wrong, but I think Erling is a good player for the team and with that mindset he will go in that direction to break more records.

If one thing became clear throughout the season, it was that Real Madrid did not have enough depth to compete throughout the campaign and needed to bring in reinforcements as soon as possible. The hope is that it will be done in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Real Madrid need to increase reinforcements all over the field. And recently they have also been linked with a lot of players.
But there seems to be bad news for fans, if they expect the club to make any major signings this summer. It doesn't seem to be in their plans when things settle down.
As MARCA reports, Real Madrid will face next season without major reinforcements. And many at the club see Carlo Ancelotti as the ideal coach to continue sitting in the hot seat at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Real Madrid fans won't be pleased with the latest transfer news
As such, it seems that Real Madrid has no major reinforcement plans this summer. This is contrary to many early rumors, which suggested that the club were preparing for a big transfer window in the summer and were linked with big-name players such as Jude Bellingham, Josko Gvardiol and a few others. It looks like plans may have changed since then. And that can make many Real Madrid fans feel disappointed, because many are expecting big changes in the upcoming summer transfer window.
If the club doesn't end up with any major changes, then Ancelotti could be the best option to move on. The Italians have shown their ability to make the most of it. And he is exactly the kind of coach Los Blancos could need in the current situation.
