Family Health University College has formally introduced the Family Health Medical School Endowment Fund in order to make medical education accessible to everyone. The Fund will support deserving but poor Ghanaian students who are passionate about becoming doctors in the future but cannot afford the tuition.
"Empowering the Needy for 21st Century Medical Education" is the topic of the launch.
A large number of people who have a desire for the profession are unable to acquire medical education since it is so expensive and only accessible to the few wealthy members of society.
The Fund's primary goal is to provide financial assistance to deserving but struggling students who want to pursue careers as medical doctors.
The founder and president of Family Health University College, Prof. Yao Kwawukume, gave a welcoming speech in which he praised former students for their success in serving in both urban and rural areas around the nation.
According to reports so far, residents in the urban and rural areas where Family Health Medical School Doctors practise really value their contributions.
Prof. Kwawukume also thanked the Governing Council and Board of Trustees for their efforts in creating the Endowment Fund to make sure that those who are less fortunate in society are not left behind in terms of access to medical education.
He nevertheless urged everyone to give to the Fund by making a contribution.
In an interview, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Naa (Dr.) Alhassan Andani, stated that it is crucial to establish an Endowment Fund to give scholarships to deserving but underprivileged students so they can pursue their dreams of becoming doctors. Family Health University College's vision is to "be a prime centre for the education and training of health professionals, for the advancement of human health."
To ensure that the institution offered the best medical education possible within the sub-Saharan region and beyond, he added that, in addition to providing scholarships to deserving but financially struggling students, a portion of the Fund would be used to plan research projects, lecture series, and the acquisition of teaching and learning resources.
