These days, Scandinavian strikers are in high demand, and Rasmus Hojlund of Denmark appears to be the next big thing.
Hojlund, who is just 20 years old and in his third senior club, is making waves with Atalanta in Serie A and has caught the attention of many of the game's top teams. Many of these teams are expected to make sizable offers for him in the near future. Just four of the many teams that have been connected to the Dane include Manchester United, Arsenal, Juventus, and Napoli.
Here is a brief biography of Hojlund before his ostensibly inevitable ascent to household name status.
The career of Rasmus Hojlund so far
Hojlund made his professional debut in October 2020 for his hometown team, the Danish club Copenhagen. Hojlund went on to make 32 appearances for the senior team, but only five of those were as a starter. He has been open about feeling unsupported by the Copenhagen management.
In January 2022, Hojlund moved to Austrian club Sturm Graz, where his career really took off. Before Atalanta came knocking with a rumored €17 million offer to take him to Italy, his six-month tenure produced 12 goals and four assists in 21 games.
Hojlund started his debut game for the senior Danish team in March 2023 and replied with five goals in in two games against Finland and Kazakhstan. He scored on his second appearance for the team and quickly established himself as a regular starter for Atalanta.
Rasmus Hojlund's playing style
Hojlund is willing to use his enormous size, which is reported to be 6'3 or 6'4; yet, the Dane prefers to move deeper into midfield in an effort to connect with the wingers on either side of him.
Hojlund frequently holds the ball up while allowing teammates to advance, shifting defenses and seeking to create havoc in the final third.
Hojlund will persistently look for space when operating further forward, using his wits to choose the ideal locations to get his shot off.
